The Aga Khan Academy (AKA), International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), and University of British Columbia recently entered into a partnership agreement to recognize the AKA’s Teacher Preparation Programme (TPP) in Mombasa, Kenya. UBC’s Associate Dean Wendy Carr and International Baccalaureate (IB) Director Gary Little visited the site last spring and formalized the agreement this year whereby UBC faculty members will evaluate teachers engaged in the TPP in order to be recognized as IB educators. On July 14, 2017, Jonathon Marsh, Manager of Professional Development, Aga Khan Development Network Foundation, held a first meeting with Gary Little, Meredith Fenton (incoming IB Director), and UBC IB adjunct faculty members Shanaz Ramji-Motani, Isobel Willard, David Andrews and Luke Modder to develop the assessment protocol.
