10/5k Run 2k Walk for Education

As part of its 50th Anniversary Gala Weekend, the Faculty of Education held a 10/5k Run and 2k Walk to raise public awareness of and support for education.

Purpose:

The Faculty of Education invites you to take part in its 50th Anniversary 10/5k Run and 2k Walk to raise public awareness of and support for education.

Donate to Faculty of Education students in financial need

The Faculty of Education is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a special appeal to raise money to support the UBC Faculty of Education students in financial need. Please consider donating to the Faculty of Education's student bursary fund. Donations over $10 are tax deductible.

5K Run/2K Walk

Race Description:

The public is invited to join the Faculty community in a 10/5k Run or 2k Walk that begins and ends at the Faculty of Education’s Neville Scarfe Building and meanders through the beautiful Pacific Spirit Park nearby. This well-marked and flat running course will be a treat for runners of all ability levels. The 10k runners will start at the front, followed by 5k runners, and then followed by the 2k walkers.

Event Features:

  • Official “50th Anniversary Run and Walk for Education” 100% cotton T-shirt
  • Scenic run featuring 50 significant historical facts about the Faculty while running or walking past landmarks of the Faculty of Education and campus
  • Well-marked race course with kilometer markings
  • Free post-race snacks
  • Random prize draw for race finishers

 
Registration begins January 12th 2007.

Regular registration: January 12 – March 29, 2007
All distances = $30
Students = $20

Late registration from March 30th - April 01, 2007
All distances = $40
Students = $30

Refund Policy:
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Race Package Pickup and Late Registration:

Faculty of Education, Scarfe foyer, 2125 Main Mall

Friday March 30th 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday March 31st 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Sunday April 1st 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

All registrants will be required to sign a waiver during race package pickup. Those participants 18 years of age and under must be accompanied by a guardian or parent to sign his/her waiver.

Parking Information:

There is pay parking in the immediate area of the start/finish line in the West Mall Parkade located at 2140 LOWER MALL, follow the link below for map and directions: http://www.maps.ubc.ca. Parkade parking will cost $4.00 for the duration of the run. There will be no attendants so you will need change, Visa or MasterCard to pay.

Location

The start and finish of the Run for Education will be in front of the Neville Scarfe building, located at 2125 MAIN MALL.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found will be located at the front desk of the Student Recreation Center, 6000 Student Union Boulevard, please call 822-6000 for more information

Volunteering

Over 20 volunteers are needed to make this event a success.  Volunteers receive lunch and a Run for Education shirt.  Contact Kavie Toor at ktoor@rec.ubc.ca for more information on volunteering at this event.
