Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Updated on 2017/07/31

Information for the UBC Internal Banting Competition and full details for the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is now available on the PDFO website.

Please note that the UBC Internal Banting Competition is only for candidates interested in holding their fellowship at UBC.

Host institutions play a critical role in the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program and are asked to endorse only their highest-calibre postdoctoral researchers.  In order to ensure that the highest-quality applicants are nominated for the national competition, UBC conducts an Internal Banting Competition. The mandatory UBC internal selection process will identify the strongest applications which will be selected per Tri-Council area (CIHR, NSERC & SSHRC) to receive the necessary institutional endorsement.  Supervisors who have identified applicants of this calibre must work with these candidates in preparing a full Banting Application Package for submission to the Postdoctoral Fellows Office at postdoctoral.fellows@ubc.ca by Friday August 11, 2017, 10:00 a.m. PDT, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please be advised that Banting Postdoctoral Fellows are entitled to benefits; however, the $70,000 annual stipend does not cover this cost.  It is the PI’s responsibility to ensure they or their unit have the funding to cover these expenses.  For more information please consult the benefits website and for sample costs please refer to the benefits cost calculator.

Please refer to the webpages linked above for more information on the UBC Internal Banting Competition.  For questions about the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program, including eligibility and application components, please contacting Banting directly at banting.fellowships-bourses.gc.ca/en/contact_index.html. For any questions about the UBC Internal Banting Competition, please contact the Postdoctoral Fellows Office at postdoctoral.fellows@ubc.ca
