Dr. Blye Frank, Dean and Professor, UBC Faculty of Education, will be hosting two events on Monday, October 23, 2017 at UBC’s Learning Centre in Nelson, BC.
A Master of Education (MEd) Information Session for educators and educational leaders interested in beginning their graduate studies in August 2018 will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., and will highlight this program in Curriculum Studies with a focus on Practitioner Inquiry and Place-Conscious Pedagogies. Dean Frank will be joined by Assistant Dean Dr. Mark Edwards, Associate Dean Dr. Wendy Carr, and Dr. Leyton Schnellert, Assistant Professor, UBC Faculty of Education Okanagan campus. The current MEd Program is in Year 2 of a two-year program.

To celebrate the expansion of UBC’s West Kootenay Rural Teacher Education Program (WKTEP) and its Learning Centre, as well as the new MEd Program, the Dean will also host an Open House and Reception from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
UBC’s West Kootenay Rural Teacher Education Program (WKTEP), now in its 28th year, is a cohort-based BEd program that prepares educators for teaching in rural and small school settings. UBC’s Learning Centre on Baker Street has become a community hub of activity, combining classes, seminars, conferencing, community events, and collaborative educational endeavours.
