Description:
Shared Learnings: Integrating BC Aboriginal Content K-10 is designed to provide
teachers with guidance in integrating Aboriginal topics in all subject areas
at an introductory level.
The first section of the guide includes the rationale, key concepts, information on planning a program and protocols and suggestions for working with the Aboriginal community. The main portion is divided into three color coded sections for primary, K-3; junior, 4-7 and intermediate, 8-10. A one or two page layout of each subject area and grade or grade combination will include 1. shared learnings ( information ALL students should know about BC Aboriginal peoples ), 2. instructional strategies, 3. links to IRP Prescribed Learning Outcomes and 4. resources. Also included in each layout is teaching tips and helpful facts. The appendix includes a glossary, assessment and evaluation suggestions, lists of resources ( provincially recommended, locally developed and internet sites) and sample lesson plans.

Ethnography of Lewis and Clark: Native American Objects and the American Quest
