Welcome

Welcome to the Children, Families and Communities Lab webpage and Faculty website for Dr. Laurie Ford at the University of British Columbia! Thank you for taking the time to learn about us the work we are doing in our lab.

We pride ourselves as having a strong interdisciplinary focus in our lab with students from psychology, education, early childhood and other related disciplines involved in our research and clinical service delivery projects. The projects and research endeavors in our lab examine the developmental strengths and needs of children and youth in an ecological context. Emphasis is placed on the role of the neighbourhood/community, school, and family in child development.

Our work addresses the social, emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and academic strengths and needs of children and youth. The majority of our current projects focus on children in early childhood (birth through 9 years).  Child level variables as well as the relationships of the child in systems such as the family, the classroom and their neighborhoods are examined through our lab projects. Recent and current projects are highlighted in the Research section of our website.

Thank you for taking the time to visiting our website.
