

Congratulations to Dr. Jo-Anne Dillabough, Department of Educational Studies, who will assume responsibilities for the David Lam Chair in Multicultural Education beginning May 1, 2010.
Dr. Dillabough has been honoured as a Killam Fellow in Canada, a Spencer Fellow in the U.S., a UBC Early Career Scholar with the Peter Wall institute for Advanced Studies, and a Noted Scholar with Flasco, Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, Social Sciences Institute, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Advisory Committee considered Dr. Dillabough's focus on urban, multiracial youth subculture to be an area of contemporary multicutural studies with particular relevance to education. In recomending her appointment, the committee also noted Dr. Dillabough's established status as a senior scholar, as reflected in her sustained record of research and success in obtaining competitive funding, the consistent acknowledgement of her work through prestigious national and international honours, and her investigation of diversity issues in a global context.
