At the beginning of each term, Educational Technology Support (ETS) offers an Orientation to Learning Technologies (OLT). These 2-hour sessions are suitable for faculty members who are looking to use UBC’s learning platform for the first time, needing to record a lecture and put it online, or wanting to find out how teaching an online-only class could work for a busy schedule. This session is highly recommended by the Dean’s Office.
The OLT will introduce UBC’s new official Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas, as well as the current platform, Blackboard Connect, which some courses will still be on.
In addition to providing information on teaching strategies and educational technologies, the session will also cover all the relevant contact information for in-Faculty technology support.
This is an informational orientation session containing no dedicated hands-on time. Additional in-depth and hands-on workshops, focusing on specific learning technologies, will be offered throughout the year.
There will be two orientations taking place in Scarfe 1008G (Note date changes):
- Wednesday, January 24, 2018 | 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 pm
- Thursday, January 25, 2018 | 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
