Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NITEP) teacher candidate & Education Students Association member Dave Robinson, Anishinaabe from the Timiskaming First Nation, accompanied by Shane Point, Musqueam Elder and VSB Knowledge Keeper, invite all students, staff and faculty to a “Sculpture Welcoming Fire Ceremony”. They invite you to witness and learn about Indigenous pedagogies, and to take part in the ceremonial first wood chip burning from Dave’s most recent 24-foot red cedar sculpture.
Dave’s red cedar sculpture is about balancing all areas of one’s life. Connecting the self, community, and education to create art on the land. Always bringing awareness to its beauty and wonder, while contributing to a place for diversity of cultures in good stewardship of the land.
