The Globe and Mail reported that UBC released a draft freedom of expression statement and requested feedback from the university community.
UBC president Santa Ono said in a statement the university had decided to release the paper late Wednesday afternoon.
The story went on to say that members of the working group said their draft could be open to further revisions.
