Dr. George Belliveau LLED Headship Candidate Presentation

Dr. Belliveau will give a public presentation to the entire Faculty of Education where he will discuss his research interests, his administrative experience and his vision as the new Head of LLED. We encourage you (all faculty, students and staff) to make every effort to attend the presentation and provide your feedback through the online feedback form by Friday February 1, 2019, 4:30pm. Your feedback is of high value to the Advisory Committee’s deliberations. A video recording of the presentation will be made available for a brief period should you be unable to attend.
Note that the Advisory Committee is a personnel committee and therefore its deliberations are confidential. It is also advisory to the Provost and Vice President Academic, who will make the final decision on the recommendation to the Dean.

Dr. Belliveau’s bio
George Belliveau is Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada. His research focuses on research-based theatre and performed research. He has published extensively in the areas of theatre & drama education and arts-based research. His latest co-edited book Contact!Unload: Research-based theatre with military veterans (UBC Press, in press) explores a project with military veterans, artists and counselors. The play and adaptations of it have been shared with a variety of audiences across Canada, UK, and Australia. Another recent book project Research-based Theatre: An Artistic Methodology (Intellect, 2016) explores a variety of international projects that use theatre to examine social issues. Prior to his tertiary career, he spent seven years teaching English, French, and Theatre in secondary schools across Canada. His first university appointment was at the University of Prince Edwards Island in the Faculty of Education, and he has now been at UBC for the past 15 years. He has received a number of awards for his teaching, service, and scholarship. He was recently inducted into the College of the Royal Society of Canada (2017).
