Ranked Ninth in the World
On March 4th, 2020, Quacquarelli Symond (“QS”), one of the most respected university rankings in the world, released its World University Rankings for 2020. I am delighted to let you know that our Faculty of Education is ranked ninth in the world and second in Canada, and the School of Kinesiology is ranked second in the world and first in Canada. In developing the rankings, QS examines academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, and H-index citations, which is based on the set of the academic’s most cited papers and the number of citations that they have received in other publications. The full QS rankings are available here: www.topuniversities.com/subject-rankings.
Our Faculty of Education has consistently moved upward in the rankings, from 19th in 2017, to 18th in 2018, to 13th in 2019. We are now ranked higher than our Education counterparts at Columbia University, UCLA, and Monash University, to name only a few.
To say that I am proud is an understatement. It is the stellar work and commitment of our entire Faculty community—faculty members, students, and staff on both campuses—who have helped us achieve this ranking. Our programs, our research, and our community engagements are clearly all world-class, and to have this fact acknowledged in such a public way is hugely important to our national and international reputation. I offer my sincere and heartfelt congratulations to every single member of our Faculty community. You have earned this accolade!
