NITEP Alumni and Friends Gathering

Dean Frank provided welcoming remarks at NITEP’s annual Alumni and Friends Gathering, held at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver following the First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) Conference Workshops.
A special feature of the event was a book launch for Learning, Knowing, Sharing: Celebrating Successes in K-12 Aboriginal Education in British Columbia, co-edited by Dr. Jo-ann Archibald, Q’um Q’um Xiiem (EDST) and Dr. Jan Hare (LLED).

Teacher Candidate Mini Conference
December 5 & 7, 2017
Dean Frank attended the keynote speech delivered by Jan Unwin, Superintendent of Graduation and Student Transitions, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Advanced Education, during the Teacher Candidate Mini Conference. Jan Unwin discussed how to create an education experience that prepares today’s children for an ever-changing world, and how teachers can strategically use the redesigned curriculum and all parts of the transformation agenda to create a different educational experience for children supported by what we now know about teaching and learning.
Education Students’ Association Council Meeting

Dean Blye Frank attended his second council meeting with the Education Students’ Association to learn their hopes and plans for 2018.
Visit to the Melbourne Graduate School of Education
December 11-14, 2017
Dean Frank and Dr. Wendy Carr, Associate Dean, Teacher Education, visited the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne.
Dr. Frank spent his time reviewing various programs as well as exploring possible future collaborations.
