BC’s Ministry of Education is planning big changes to the K–12 curriculum.
Dr. Don Krug, Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy, was interviewed on CBC Radio’s The Early Edition on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
“Teachers have been using concepts for many, many years so I’m not sure that that is actually a novel idea. I do believe that it is a good idea for them to move away from a prescriptive model which would be based on a particular amount of information or facts that students are suppose to learn,” said Don Krug, a professor in the Faculty of Education at UBC. “The idea to organize it around concepts is good. Whether or not that is modernizing the curriculum is another issue.”
