Vancouver Campus

The Faculty of Education Vancouver Campus offers the largest and most comprehensive teacher education program in British Columbia.

Our program offers specialized preparation in all secondary school subject areas, thematic cohort-based elementary and middle years options, and Canada’s first ever International Baccalaureate educator stream — in an 11-month program. University of British Columbia Vancouver also offers a rural teacher education program in the West Kootenays and its renowned Indigenous education program, NITEP. Completion of the program leads to a Bachelor of Education degree and eligibility for teacher certification by the BC Ministry of Education’s Teacher Certification Branch.

Okanagan Campus

To inspire and be inspired is at the heart of the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus.

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program on UBC’s Okanagan campus, located in Kelowna, BC, is an 11-month* post-degree program. This generalist program offers a variety of approaches to teaching and learning, with teacher candidates working alongside educators on campus and in real classroom settings. Throughout the program, candidates develop a reflective teaching stance that centers students, inclusive practice, and the quality of learning. The program includes two school-based practicum experiences along with coursework focused on classroom management, instructional design, assessment, literacy and numeracy, inclusive education, and the integration of technology to support diverse learner.

Students will graduate with a globally recognized UBC Bachelor of Education degree and recommendation for teacher certification by the Ministry of Education and Child Care (Teacher Regulation Branch).
