Walk With Us: The Path Towards Reconciliation

Indigenous learners and communities continue to face unique challenges and systemic barriers in Canada’s educational system. Addressing these inequities is not only a matter of justice but essential to reconciling relationships and creating a more inclusive society—a society enriched by Indigenous knowledge systems.

We share a responsibility to ensure meaningful educational opportunities for Indigenous learners, to recognize the contributions of Indigenous knowledge in teaching and research, and to engage with Indigenous communities in realizing their goals and aspirations. When the cultural traditions and knowledge of Indigenous learners and communities are sustained through education and research, we all benefit.

The Faculty of Education at UBC is committed to empowering Indigenous learners and communities, while also ensuring non-Indigenous members of our education community are prepared to engage respectfully and critically with Indigenous knowledge, histories, and perspectives.

Together, we can prepare Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders, educators, practitioners, and researchers to be advocates and changemakers. Informed by Indigenous knowledge, we can build healthy societies and a healthy planet. Your support is an investment in Indigenous futures—advancing reconciliation, equity, and inclusion for all.
