Call for Nominations: 2025–26 Dean’s Awards for Staff Excellence

About

The Dean’s Awards for Staff Excellence were created in 2001 as an annual celebration of the Faculty’s appreciation for the valuable contributions of our staff. These awards are bestowed in recognition of excellence in personal and professional achievements and contributions to the vision, mission, and goals of the Faculty, and of the University as a whole. There is one (1) winner, an individual or a team, for each category listed.

Award Categories and Criteria

Service and Community Impact

Nominees must demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • Consistently go above and beyond in fulfilling the requirements of their position(s) and have a positive impact on members of the Faculty of Education community;
  • A strong commitment to serving people in the Faculty of Education or in the broader University community;
  • Establish and maintain exemplary and inclusive interpersonal and communication practices;
  • Engage with community members in the Faculty of Education and beyond in consistent, respectful, and welcoming interactions;
  • Encourage others to take action and have an impact around unit-level or Faculty goals, plans, and objectives; and/or
  • Contribute to making their unit, the Faculty of Education, and UBC a better workplace.

Leadership and Innovation

Nominees must demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • Lead new or innovative ways of performing duties that go above and beyond the requirements of their position(s);
  • Provide a sense of purpose, vision, and mission for colleagues through collaboration in their unit and/or across the Faculty of Education and UBC;
  • Understand the impact of their role(s) in the Faculty and passionate about the work they do;
  • Seek professional growth to enrich work experiences for themselves and others;
  • Serve as role model(s) to others through openness to new ways of carrying out work; or
  • Invests time and effort in coaching or mentoring colleagues, students, or community members; and/or
  • Contribute to making their unit, the Faculty of Education, and UBC a better workplace.

Nomination Process

The nominator is responsible for preparing and submitting the nomination package, which must include:

  • One (1) completed Nomination Form, signed by the supervisor(s) of the nominee(s).
  • A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of four (4) support letters from staff, faculty members, students, or community members with clearly noted connections to the Faculty of Education.

Complete nomination packages must be sent via email to info.educ@ubc.ca by the end of the day on Friday, April 17, 2026. Receipt of all nomination packages will be confirmed, and all information submitted will be kept strictly confidential.
