World’s Challenge Challenge

By alex smiciklas

We are proud to announce UBC is one of eighteen participating universities in this year’s World’s Challenge Challenge. Student teams will compete by presenting to a panel of academic and community leaders on a global challenge and how they plan to solve it.  The winning team members each receive a cash prize of $2000 and a chance to compete in the international competition at Western University in London, Ontario in June 2019. The first prize winners get a total of $30 000 and the second prize group will receive $15 000. The intention for the prize money is to help further develop and implement the proposed solution.

The Challenge

The World’s Challenge Challenge is a competition hosted by the UBC Global Lounge, which seeks to engage students on international issues and how they can play a part in sparking social change.

Teams of students pitch their solutions to global problems for a chance to win $6000 and to go on to compete in the International World’s Challenge Challenge, for a top team prize of $30,000.
