Dr. Jan Hare, Dean pro tem, is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Dean’s Awards for Staff Excellence.
The awards recognize excellence in personal achievements and contributions to the Faculty of Education, UBC and to the vision and goals of the University. The Outstanding Service Award honours a staff member who displays a commitment to serving people in the Faculty or in the broader University community, among other attributes.
The Emerging Leader Award is presented to a staff member who provides a sense of purpose, vision and mission for their co-workers or staff and who seeks professional growth and enriched work experiences.
This year’s Outstanding Service Award recipient is Silvia Almanza Alonso, Assistant to the Department Head in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education. Silvia’s nomination package describes her as an exemplary colleague who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the inclusive culture of the department, ensuring that people feel welcome, included, and accepted.
The Emerging Leader Award recipient this year is David Sequeira, Facilities Coordinator, Office of the Dean. Nominators cited David’s dedication to his work and to serving the Faculty of Education community with kind demeanour, a service-oriented disposition and attentiveness to safety, fiscal responsibility and care for the environment.
The Faculty of Education extends congratulations to these two outstanding staff members, and to all those who were nominated.
