Staff Spotlight – Meet Peyvand Fralick

The Faculty of Education has amazing staff that help to keep the Faculty running smoothly and effectively. Each month we will be featuring a new staff member to introduce them to the Faculty.

This month we shine the spotlight on Peyvand Fralick, Assistant to the Associate Dean, Indigenous Education.


  • How long have you worked with the Faculty of Education?
  • I started in September 2018.
  • Can you summarize what you do in the Faculty of Education?
  • I am the Administrative Assistant for Indigenous Education. I support Dr. Hare with her calendar management, meetings and other work. I also plan events, work with Elders, manage the budget, do all of the finance and even a little bit of communications.
  • What is your favorite thing about working at UBC?
  • My favorite thing about my job right now is getting to meet so many interesting people. I get to meet all of the Elders and Speakers that come into our department and it is truly a blessing to hear their stories. I also have the privilege of working with Graduate and PhD students who come from so many diverse backgrounds and have so much knowledge.
  • What is your go-to karaoke song?
  • Anything by Fleetwood Mac.
  • What is one interesting fact about you that people may not know?
  • I play the Ukulele.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world next week, where would you want to go?
  • Japan – I’ve already been there but I would love to go again with my partner.
  • If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  • I don’t really like to watch movies I get pretty restless, but I could binge watch the original Arrested Development series over and over again.
  • How do you like to recharge after a week at work?
  • Cuddling with my two dogs, a good book and a glass of wine.
  • What is your best dad joke?
  • What did one hat says to the other?

  • On your commute what are you most likely listening to?
  • We have music on all the time in the background at home so on my commute to work I like to read.
  • What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
