Ta7talíya Michelle Nahanee is a member of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). She is a decolonial creative and strategist living and working in her ancestral homelands on the shared territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples also known as the City of Vancouver.
About the session
Decolonizing 101 dives into concepts, vocabulary and applications related to decolonization, reconciliation, Indigenization and more. The session weaves storytelling, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh teachings and critical analytical frameworks to provide language, guidance, and actionable tools to help you feel self-assured about what decolonization means to you and how to put your goals into action.
Learn how can we reverse colonial impacts through:
- Actions we can take
- Words we can say
- Ideas we can unlearn
The session is accessible for those who are at different points along their decolonizing journey, whether they are novices or already have an active practice. All participants will receive a “Decolonize First” workbook.
