The Undergraduate Certificate in Adult Learning and Education (UGCALE) is designed to introduce the broad field of adult learning and education to those who anticipate being involved with or who may already be designing, planning, implementing, teaching and evaluating educational and training programs for adults as part of their lifelong learning and professional practice. Certificate – Infant Development & Supported Child Development (IDSC)
This certificate program aims to provide students with a basic foundation of the knowledge and skills needed to work with young children (birth to 9 years) with special needs and their families especially in the Infant Development Program (IDP) and the Supported Child Development program (SCD).

Certificate – Orientation & Mobility
This program prepares students to teach all age ranges of individuals who are blind or visually impaired to travel safely and efficiently through their environment.
Completion of the program will allow students to apply for certification with the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).

Certificate – SoTL Leadership in Higher Education

In response to these scholarly, professional and institutional challenges, The International Faculty SoTL Leadership Program: UBC Certificate on Curriculum and Pedagogy in Higher Education prepares senior educational leaders to develop expertise in scholarly approaches to, and the scholarship of curriculum and pedagogical practices in complex higher education settings.

Certificate – Technology-Based Distributed Learning
In addition to the master’s program, MET offers two graduate-level certificates. Certificate programs can be completed in as little as one year and require a minimum of two core courses and a maximum of 3 electives. All courses are online.
MET Graduate Certificate in Technology-Based Distributed Learning – The TBDL certificate is directed at anyone concerned with managing, designing or tutoring online or face-to-face technology-based courses for post-secondary or adult learners.

Certificate in Education – Textiles Studies
A Collaboration with Kwantlen University College
This program is designed for teachers of textile studies who want to strengthen their knowledge in the area, or for teachers who want to develop expertise for the teaching of textile studies.The certificate program consists of five courses – three from UBC, and two from Kwantlen.

Certificate in Education – Computing Studies
The Certificate in Education sub-specialization in Integrating Technology through Education and Culture is offered through the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy subject areas: Computing Studies and Technology Studies Education Programs.
The iTEC Certificate Program provides an opportunity for teachers to have hands-on experiences with educational technologies and technology-based learning. Students will work with emerging forms of digital media, technologies, and learning management systems, social media, and communication networks. Students will have opportunities to teach and learn in formal (public and private K–12 schools) and informal (museums, centers, community–based institutions) educational venues to improve their understanding and practices in the pedagogical uses of information and communication technologies (ICT) within face-to-face, mixed-mode, and online-distance education settings.
This program focuses on established and emerging digital media and educational technology perspectives and practices for the purpose of both enhancing your knowledge of existing educational technology curriculum issues and developing new areas of inquiry specific to your interests and situation.

Certificate in Education – Teacher-Librarianship
Today’s teacher librarian is a dynamic teacher able to:
plan units of study collaboratively with other teachers; teach information literacy to students; develop curricula that integrates information literacy and technology; work with teachers to improve literacy learning; select quality resources and manage collections that support the curriculum, lifelong learning, and independent reading.
The diploma and certificate programs incorporate course work in educational leadership, inquiry-based learning, literacy, collaborative planning and teaching, information literacy, curriculum design and implementation, multi-media resources, and learning technologies.

Certificate TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language)
There are two types of TESL certificates: the TESL Coursework Certificate and the TESL Certificate with Practicum.
To receive the 12-credit TESL Coursework Certificate from the Department of Language and Literacy Education, a student must complete LLED 489 (6 credits) and LLED 478 (6 credits). Note that courses other than LLED 489 that may count as prerequisites for LLED 478 cannot count as credit towards the certificate.
To receive the 15-credit TESL Certificate with Practicum, a student must complete LLED 489 (6 credits), LLED 478A (3 credits), LLED 478B (3 credits) and LLED 399 (3 credits).

Certificate – Early Years Education (EYED)
This certificate program focuses broadly on developing early childhood education (ECE) curricula and the principles of teaching and learning in the early years (preschool to Grade 3).

Certification for Special Education – Behaviour Analyst Certification
The broad field of behaviour analysis grew out of the scientific study of principles of learning and behaviour. It has two main branches: experimental and applied behaviour analysis. The experimental analysis of behaviour is the basic science of this field and has over many decades accumulated a substantial and well-respected research literature. This literature provides the scientific foundation for applied behaviour analysis (ABA), which is both an applied science that develops methods of changing behaviour and a profession that provides services to meet diverse learning and behavioural needs. Professionals in applied behaviour analysis engage in the specific and comprehensive use of the principles of learning in order to address behavioural needs of widely varying individuals in diverse settings. Examples of these applications include building the skills and achievements of children in school settings; and enhancing the development, abilities, and choices of children and adults with various types of kinds of disabilities.

Graduate Certificate & Masters in High Performance Coaching & Technical Leadership (HPC&TL)
The UBC Masters in High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership is a three year, 30 credit specialized program for experienced sport coaches and technical leaders who are looking to advance in their careers.
The program is composed of a one year graduate certificate followed by masters course work. Year one (June) and two (August) begin with a week long residential institute held at UBC Vancouver. The remaining schedule consists of online teaching methods that are designed to facilitate the participation of candidates from across Canada and around the world.
Higher Education Graduate Certificate Program
The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GCHIED) is designed to meet the continuing professional development needs of those involved in the field of higher education. This certificate is intended for individuals in teaching, supporting, or monitoring roles in public and private institutions of higher education in British Columbia and beyond. Students will complete coursework on the following topics: an introduction to the field of higher education; the historical, philosophical, economic, and sociological foundations of higher education; organization and administration of higher education; and the Canadian systems of higher education.
