UBC Okanagan unveils redesigned 11-month Bachelor of Education program

December 1, 2025 The UBC Faculty of Education’s Okanagan School of Education is shortening its Bachelor of Education (BEd) program from 16 months to 11 months, offering a more efficient pathway to BC teacher certification and employment. The revised program was approved by the UBC Okanagan Senate on November 27 and now awaits final approval from the British Columbia Teachers’ Council, expected in early February 2026. The BEd remains a post-degree program; applicants must first complete a recognized undergraduate degree before applying.
